Beykoz Kundura
Beykoz Kundura is one of İstanbul’s most storied cultural landmarks - a place where layers of industrial heritage, cinematic production, and contemporary performing arts exist side by side. Once an Ottoman-era leather and paper factory, and later a major Republican-era shoe factory, the complex has evolved into a multidisciplinary cultural hub with film studios, performance venues and a year-round program of events.
Designing a digital home for a place with this much history and dimensionality required a balance of clarity, character and storytelling. Our goal was to translate Kundura’s multi-venue, multi-identity nature into a coherent, intuitive user experience, one that orients visitors without flattening the richness of the space.
We built the website around a clear information architecture that brings together the site’s three essential layers: heritage, venues, and current cultural production. Users can easily explore Kundura’s history, navigate between buildings, browse upcoming screenings and performances, and access rental or institutional information - all within a structure designed for fluid transitions and minimal friction.
The visual language blends modern interface design with cues from the site’s industrial past: a restrained typographic system, atmospheric photography and a layout strategy that foregrounds both scale and detail. Subtle transitions, loader animations and mobile-responsive behaviors ensure the browsing experience feels as crafted as the content itself.
